Description: Mapa epicentral de grandes sismos históricos ocurridos en Perú, periodo 1500 a 2014.<BR> Se muestra la distribución espacial de los sismos históricos de mayor magnitud ocurridos en Perú, observándose que el 70% del total de eventos presentan sus epicentros frente a la zona costera, todos asociados al proceso de subducción de la placa de Nazca por debajo de la Sudamericana. Estos eventos, en mayor número, se encuentran en las regiones centro y sur, mostrando que ambas regiones presentan mayor riesgo.
